Our puppy consults are designed for puppies up to six months of age and are the perfect foundation to build upon. Get the whole family involved at a time that suits you.
Welcome to the wonderful world of puppy ownership!
At SitDropStay Puppy Training we believe your new puppy requires a mixture of leadership, love, affection, play, stimulation and socialisation, as well as clear boundaries and rules to grow into a happy, calm and balanced adult. Your own behaviour over the next few months and how you manage the environment is critical to both your puppy’s development and your relationship with them.
Here's how it works
After the initial contact, your local SitDropStay behaviour specialist will organise to come to your home at a time that suits you, including weekends and after hours. They will then observe you interacting with your pup, listen to what you want and work out what needs to happen. Together you will create a puppy training plan based on your puppy’s individual personality traits, breed, habits and temperament. Seeing you in your home environment allows your trainer to personalise your training and factor in your routine, lifestyle, other family members/pets, personal preferences and owner experience. Full phone and email support is included from your first session.

Step 1
2 Hour Foundation Consultation
This consult is based at your home but you are welcome to go out and about if your pup is age appropriate.
General puppy training can include:
- Home set up
- Sleeping routines
- Toilet training
- How to correct unwanted behaviour
- Teaching independence and self soothing
- Socialising
- Introducing the collar and lead
- Basic manners
- Personal space
- Creating trust and respect
- Providing enrichment and challenge
This is the foundation of creating a balanced and healthy relationship and helps to raise a calm, balanced, happy and well-behaved dog.

Step 2
1 Hour Follow Up Consultations
As your pup grows and you are ready for further training, we then offer and encourage one hour follow-up sessions. We can help you with anything you like!
Extra sessions can be for:
- a general refresher
- addressing new problem behaviours as they arise
- meet ups in public places (have your trainer go with you to the vet, cafe or beach)
- more advanced owner coaching (emotion, energy, body language, leadership)
- support with integration of another pet into your household
- more advanced off lead training – feel confident knowing your dog will come back around distractions
- travelling in a car or caravan calmly
- socialising with other dogs
